Mooldijk Named MAC Goalkeeper Of The Week Again

Lancer Sophomore Piles Up 33 Saves in Two Matches

FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood field hockey goalkeeper Sophie Mooldijk was named the MAC Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced this morning.

Mooldijk played a pivotal role in helping Longwood's defense stand firm, leading the Lancers to a road win at Ohio and tallying 33 total saves in two matches.

At Ohio, Mooldijk piled up 13 saves to lead the Lancers to a 2-1 win. She came up especially big in the second quarter, making five saves in that 15-minute segment to keep the game tied 1-1 at the half. In addition, she and the Lancer defense fought off nine penalty corners.

Her Ohio performance came on the heels of a career day against Appalachian State. She racked up a career best 20 saves and was critical in keeping Longwood in the match against one of the league leaders. The match was tied 1-1 through nearly 45 minutes, and Mooldijk faced 36 shots.

For the season, Mooldijk has posted 139 saves with a .760 save percentage. She has one shutout and has played every minute of Longwood's 14 games.

The Lancers are back in action this weekend when they host Central Michigan on Friday at 2 p.m. and No. 7 Liberty on Sunday at noon.
