LYNCHBURG, Va. – Longwood outdoor track & field had one final chance to get some work in, and the team closed strong at the Hill City Twilight at the University of Lynchburg on Saturday.
 
Jaidyn Foddrell broke the men's 100-meter record while winning the event, and Nyomi Rhodes, Ayden Stewart, Andrew Rutherford, Riley Humphries, Ysabel Wells and Kaylen Hill all added podium finishes.
 
NOTABLE RESULTS:
 
Foddrell ripped off a 10.80 in the prelims of the 100-meter dash before throwing down a 10.77 in the final to win the event.
 
Rhodes addeda  12.43 of her own in the women's 100-meter dash to finish third, behind only two runners from the University of Virginia.
 
Stewart, meanwhile, put up a 48.09 in the men's 400-meter, finishing second behind a runner from UVA, and Rutherford was second in the men's 800-meter with a 1:54.98 that was second to only a runner from Virginia Tech.
 
Humphries added a 2:17.51 in the women's 800-meter, good for a second-place finish, and Wells was third in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase invitational with a 12:34.14. Hill also was third in the women's long jump with a 4.77-meter effort.

"Great evening at the track that served as a tune up for the conference championship," said Longwood Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Brooke Craig. "The team has grown a lot this season and are ready for a strong showing at conference."
