CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Five Longwood players have been named to the 2025 All-Big South Team in men's soccer. The league announced Tuesday.
Forwards Aaron Asamoah and Brando Bedolla were named to the second team, while defenders Benjamin Ferrero and Joshua Yoder were honorable mention selections. Ferrero picked up all-freshman team honors, as well.
Fellow defender David Ambaek was the Lancers' representative on the Big South All-Academic Team.
The year-end Big South awards are the second of the career for Azsamoah and Bedolla. Asamoah earned a spot on the first team while Bedolla was an all-freshman team pick in 2024.
In 16 matches and 13 starts, Asamoah, a senior from Worms, Germany, posted two goals and four points. He scored in Longwood's last two matches of the season at USC Upstate and against Presbyterian, helping the Lancers finish 1-0-3 to challenge for the final Big South tournament berth.
Bedolla, a sophomore from Greenville, S.C., led the team with six goals and six assists for 18 points in 15 matches and starts this season. He tied his career high scoring both goals in a 2-2 draw at home versus Winthrop on Oct. 17, adding another four points in Longwood's must-win 5-3 victory over Presbyterian to end the season on Friday. Bedolla is currently tied for third in the league in goals scored and tied for fourth in goals. He alone in third in the Big South in points.
Bedolla was named Big South Co-Player of the Week on Oct. 20.
Ferrero, of Esquel, Argentina, posted a pair of goals on the season in 12 matches and 11 starts. He scored in a 2-2 at Campbell on Sept. 16 and in Friday's victory over Presbyterian. He played a full 90 minutes five times, including in the final two matches of the season.
He was named Big South Freshman of the Week on Monday.
Yoder appeared in 15 matches, making 14 starts on the year as a senior. He played all 90 minutes in all but one outing and contributed to the Lancers' 1-0 shutout of Elon on Sept. 16.
Ambaek, a senior from Copenhagen, Denmark, carries a 3.88 GPA in business administration. A senior captain, he played 12 matches this season, starting 11, while playing all 90 minutes six times. Ambaek assisted on the Longwood goal in a 2-1 loss to Wofford on Sept. 5.
Longwood finished the year 3-8-5 overall and 1-4-2 in Big South play.
