FARMVILLE, Va. – Sydney O'Hara-Wood earned her first Big South Conference Honors as the Women's Cross Country Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced today.
At the Lancer Pink Invitational, O'Hara-Wood finished fourth overall, breaking the 19-minute mark with a personal best time of 18:47.9.
That time was nearly 30 seconds faster than her debut on the challenging course, when she finished second at the Lancer Home Open with a time of 19:15.7.
O'Hara-Wood is the third Lancer to ever receive the Freshman of the Week Award since the conference started giving those awards in 2021.
Sophie Farley earned the honor twice in 2024 while
Priscilla Keller did so in 2023 and
Lanie Grogg earned the honors in 2022.
The Lancers will travel to Bethlehem, Pa. on Oct. 3 for the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University with a slated start time of 9:30 a.m.
