FARMVILLE, Va. — Longwood Director of Tennis Charlotte Clarke announced the additions of graduate assistant coach Harriet Glaves and Jack Batchelor to the women's and men's tennis staff on Tuesday.
Glaves comes to Longwood following a four-year career at NCAA Division II Charleston in West Virginia. The Lancaster, England native helped the Golden Eagles to four Mountain East Conference championships and four trips to the NCAA tournament.
Glaves, a three-year team captain, was a first team all-Mountain East Conference selection in in 2024-25 as a senior while earning second-team honors as a 2021-22 as a sophomore. Charleston advanced to the NCAA tournament round of 16 in in 2023, finishing 19-9 as a team overall.
She is a certified Level 2 coach from Britain's Lawn Tennis Association and has assisted at Jon Griffin Tennis, Ltd., since May 2019, working with players ages 4-16.
Glaves graduated summa cum laude from Charleston with a degree in exercise science in May.
Batchelor comes to the Lancers from Division I Bellarmine in the Atlantic Sun Conference. He finished his four years from 2021-25 as the Knights' all-time leader in total wins (119) and singles victories (70). Batchelor, a native of York, England, is also second all-time in the Louisville school's annals with 49 wins in doubles action.
A three-time team captain and four-time ASUN honor roll recipient, Batchelor earned first team all-ASUN honors in both 2024 and 2025, including being a unanimous selection as a senior. He was also a two-year member of Bellarmine's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as well as earning five dean's list commendations.
Batchelor competed in the ITA Conference Masters in both singles and doubles in 2024.
He graduated cum laude in economics in 2025.
Batchelor has also worked as a junior tennis coach in North Yorkshire, England.
