FARMVILLE, Va. – The Longwood men's and women's track teams were named All-Academic Teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association today.
For both teams, it marks their first time earning the accolade, and the honor comes after the second year of full competition for both teams.
The honor is reserved for teams that post a cumulative GPA above 3.0, including the most recent semester.
For the Lancer women, they combined for a 3.50 team GPA to cap a strong year that also saw the cross country team earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors in January.
The Lancer men combined for a 3.32 team GPA, and, much like the women, saw it cap a strong season that also saw the men's cross country team garner USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors in January.
Both the men and women continued to build in their second year of competition this past spring, with
Sophie Farley earning the program's first All-Big South accolade at the Big South Track & Field Championships in the spring.
