Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Â

The match was tight throughout, and the defenses were as suffocating as the humidity. Opportunities were limited for each side, and the two teams combined for a total of 13 shots and four penalty corners.
Â
The Red Flash controlled the first quarter and put up five of their eight shots, but Longwood responded with three shots in the second.
Â
Finally, SFU broke through in the third on their lone penalty corner. Olivia Muffitt passed it short to Madison Waldspurger, and Waldsburger's shot ricocheted off the stick of Lancer goalkeeper
Santia McLaughlin into the top of the cage.
Â

Longwood pressed forward in the fourth, but St. Francis denied the Lancers at every turn.
WHAT THEY SAID:
"We came out a little flat today and couldn't seem to find a consistent groove," said Longwood Head Coach
Miranda Rigg. "We have to work as a team and value possession when we have it. It was a tough loss, but it's early in the season. We will bounce back from this."
