Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Â
In a physical first half, neither side found the back of the cage in the first quarter. La Salle struck first in the second, but the Lancers surged as the clock ticked down to halftime.
Â
Isis Vrolijks buried a penalty stroke with 92 second to go in the half to knot the match at one apiece.
Â
Luna Prieri banged home a goal to take the lead at the break, scoring with 27 seconds to go in the half.
Madison Wiley picked up the assist.
Â
La Salle equalized in the third period on the strength of five penalty corners, and the Explorers added two more in the fourth. Clara Larripa had the game winner, and she had a pair of assists as well in the match.
Â
Santia McLaughlin racked up eight saves for the Lancers in goal as La Salle peppered the cage throughout the match.
Â
WHAT THEY SAID:
Â
"We had some moments of good connected hockey," said Longwood Head Coach
Miranda Rigg. "Coming back from being down by scoring two quick goals is hard to do. It was good to see that we are capable of it and have fire within us. In the second half, we let them run the game, and, unfortunately, went away from our style and structure."

UP NEXT:

Longwood stays on the road for a matchup on Sunday afternoon against Villanova. First push is set for noon.
