FARMVILLE, Va. – The top-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels visit Longwood for a 5 p.m. contest Friday. The Tar Heels are the second No. 1-ranked squad to visit Farmville in the Division I era and the first since 2008.
"Having the number one team in the country at home is going to be a great event for us," said head coach
Iain Byers. "UNC has a great history and it is a challenging game for us, but we are excited to take on the challenge and I look forward to the support of our home fans at the game."
North Carolina is 8-2 on the season and ranked first for the third consecutive week. The Tar Heels have also faced the nation's toughest schedule, with 9 of their 10 games coming against ranked foes.
Longwood is now 4-8 and coming off of back-to-back road losses. The Lancers dropped their fourth overtime game of the season Sunday against Central Michigan.
Friday begins a three-game homestand with Longwood host Davidson Monday, October 13 and Ball State on Friday, October 17.
