OXFORD, Ohio – Longwood field hockey fell to No. 13 Miami on the road in the regular season finale this afternoon.

Malena Sabes led Miami (13-4, 8-1 MAC) with a pair of goals to help the RedHawks clinch a share of the MAC regular season crown.
For Longwood (4-13, 2-7 MAC), it marked the team's fifth ranked opponent of the season, and it was the second straight matchup against a team in the top 15.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Sabez was part of a balanced attack for Miami that got going early in the contest. She opened the scoring less than five minutes in off a penalty corner.

That allowed the RedHawks to put home a trio of goals in the first quarter before Longwood's defense slowed things down and kept it at 3-0 to go into the half.
Â
However, Miami punched home four goals in the third to pull away for good.

Sophie Mooldijk made 15 saves in cage for Longwood, and
Fayth Julius added three more.

The season is complete for Longwood field hockey. The Lancers will return to Elizabeth Burger Jackson Field for the 2026 campaign next fall.
