Kelly Almeida

Former Longwood midfielder Kelly Almeida joined the Lancer coaching staff in August of 2019 as a graduate assistant coach.

A four-year letterwinner for the Lancers from 2015-18, Almeida appeared in 70 games during her career and helped the Lancers amass a 38-30-10 overall record and a 22-9-7 mark in Big South play. She played more than 2,700 minutes on the pitch and totaled six career goals, five assists and 17 points from her spot in the midfield.

Almeida played a key role for the Lancers during Longwood's run to the Big South championship game in 2017, scoring two goals and dishing three assists that year. One of those goals was the game-winner in the Big South quarterfinal win against Charleston Southern, while one of her assists also came in the postseason in Longwood's 2-0 semifinal upset over Liberty.

As graduate assistant coach for 2019, Almeida will assist head coach Todd Dyer and associate head coach Rich Stoneman in all facets of a program that is among the Big South's winningest teams since joining the conference in 2012.

A native of Southbury, Conn., Almeida was a four-year Big South Presidential Honor Roll selection and earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from Longwood in May of 2019.
