FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood women's soccer senior
Sydney Robertson was named the Big South Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today.
Robertson helped guide the Lancer defense to a 1-1 draw with Commonwealth rival Richmond last Thursday.
The senior center back, who was a First Team Big South selection in 2024, played all 90 minutes in the contest.
She helped Longwood dominate the first half, when the team did not surrender a shot in the first 45 minutes. In addition, she matched up with Richmond's leading goal scorer and limited her to two shots on goal.
On the season, Robertson has one assist, and she is the second Lancer to earn weekly honors from the Big South this season, joining
Sam Fischer. Fischer was the Big South Offensive Player of the Week once and the Big South Freshman of the Week once.
The Lancers begin Big South play on Saturday, when the team hosts Gardner-Webb at 2 p.m. The match will air on ESPN+.
