INSIDE THE MATCHUP

  • Longwood concludes a four-game homestand against Charlotte on Sunday night.

LAST TIME OUT

  • Longwood came out on top against VMI in a 5-3 win on Wednesday.
  • For a third straight game, Sam Fischer scored, and this time she scored in both halves of the game for her first career multi-goal effort.
  • Peyton Curney made her way onto the scoring board for the first time this season.
  • Madison Fitzpatrick also scored for a second straight match.
  • Senior Karleigh Minson tallied her first goal of the campaign as well.
  • The victory was the Lancers' 100th at Longwood Athletics Complex. Longwood is 100-48-20 (.655) since the facility opened in 2006.
STRONG START
  • If the Lancers win versus the 49ers, it would mark the fourth time in the history of the program a Longwood team earned victories in at least its first four matches to start a season and the first time since 2001.
  • The Lancers began that year beating Lenoir-Rhyne, Concord, Limestone and Pfeiffer. That team finished the season 13-3-1 overall.
  • The 1998 squad also started 6-0-0, finishing 16-5-1.
  •  In 1997, Longwood started 7-0-0, going on to lose just one match all season to finish 12-1-1

EVERYBODY EATS

  • Fourteen Lancers have recorded a point so far this season, just one shy of the 15 players that had a point in 2024.
  • Freshman Sam Fischer leads the team with four goals, and Madison Fitzpatrick has scored twice.
  • In addition, nine different players have tallied an assist, although none have more than one.

NATIONAL RANKS

  • The Lancers are tied for 10th nationally in two categories: total goals (11th), corner kicks per game (nine) in corner kicks per game at nine.
  • Fischer is tied for fourth in the nation with her four goals, and she is tied for seventh with nine points.
  • The Lancers also lead the Big South in scoring offense (3.67 goals per game), shots per game (20) and assists per game (three), in addition to total goals and corner kicks per game.
