WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Top-ranked Wake Forest defeated the Longwood men's tennis team, 4-0 on Friday.
The Lancers' No. 3 doubles team of
Alejandro Uribe and
Marko Mrdak beat DK Suresh Ekambaram and Noah Hahn, 6-3, to force a deciding No. 1 doubles match between
Timéo Puech and
Mauricio Gonzalez Paiva. The Demon Deacons pair of Martin Mazev and Luca Pow, 7-6 (3), to take the doubles point.
Wake Forest's Joaquin Guilleme beat
Petar Belosevic, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2 to open singles. Pow then beat Puech, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 and Harry Thursfield defeated Gonzalez Paiva 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3 to clinch the match.
Wake Forest improved to 30-0 with the victory while Longwood dropped to 6-8.
Longwood is back in action at Navy on Sunday at 11 a.m.
