HOW IT HAPPENED:
Â
The Lancers were aggressive early and outshot William & Mary in the first quarter 8-4 and had four penalty corners as well. Longwood put five shots on goal, but Emma Cari made five saves in cage for W&M.
Â
However, Brown gave the Tribe the lead with less than a minute left in the first off a pass from Kellen Richbourg.
Â
Both defenses shut things down in the middle two quarters before scoring opened up again in the fourth.
Â
Longwood had four penalty corners in the fourth, and outcornered William & Mary on the day 9-8. The Tribe managed to extend the lead to 3-0 before Tierney fired home a goal off a Longwood corner with less than six minutes remaining.
Â
WHAT THEY SAID:

"Unfortunately, we just didn't show up today to compete and play the way we know how to," said Longwood Head Coach
Miranda Rigg. "We are looking forward to regrouping next week at home."
