ROCK HILL, S.C. — Junior Timéo Puech dispatched Gardner-Webb's Numa Lemieux-Monette in three sets in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Big South Individual Tennis Championship at the Rock Hill Tennis Center Saturday.
The fifth-seeded Puech dropped the opening set to No. 4 Lemieux-Monette, 1-6, but knotted the match with a 6-4 victory in the second set before advancing to semifinals with a 7-6 decision.
Puech's run, though, ended there as he fell to the top tournament seed Eduardo Dias of Gardner-Webb, 6-2, 6-1.
In the consolation doubles draw, Petar Belosevic and Marko Mrdak defeated Radford's Evan Edwards and Tom Saporta, 8-4. Sai Gandepalli and Cian Ingles from UNC Asheville also beat Uribe and Gonzalez Paiva, 8-7 (5).
In the consolation singles draw, Saporta topped Alejandro Uribe, 6-3, 6-4 and Johan Van Wijk of Gardner-Webb beat Mauricio Gonzalez Paiva, 7-5, 7-5.
