HANOVER, N.H. - The Longwood University field hockey team  fell at Dartmouth College 4-1 on Sunday afternoon in Hanover, New Hampshire.  Freshman Jessica Diaz|Chesapeake (Western Branch)  recorded her first collegiate goal for the Lancers (2-2) against the Big Green  (2-0). Longwood returns to action on Friday, September 9, when it faces the  College of William and Mary of the Colonial Athletic Association at 4 p.m. in  Williamsburg.
Dartmouth struck first with a  goal at 6:29 on a loose ball in the circle after a penalty corner. The Lancers  answered at 13:14 when 
Jessica Diaz took a pass from senior Alison Akers|Virginia Beach (First Colonial) on a  two on one breakaway and found the goal. Meghan Everett scored the  match-winning goal at 47:31 before the Big Green added two more goals in the  final 11 minutes to make the final score 4-1. 
The Big Green outshot Longwood 17-9 and had an 8-7  advantage in penalty corners. The Lancers were led by 
Jessica Diaz with one  goal, while sophomore Stacey de Grandhomme|Cape Town, South Africa (Table  View) attempted a team-high four shots with two shots on goal.  Junior goalkeeper 
Kaye Goulding|Tickhill, England (Wakefield  Girls) played the duration in the cage and recorded four saves.  Dartmouth was paced by Kelly Hood and Samantha McPherson with  one goal each on five shots. Meagan Vakiener played all 70 minutes in goal and allowed one  goal with three saves.
