DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Longwood University field hockey team fell at Northern Pacific Field Hockey Conference (NorPac) opponent Davidson College 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in Davidson, North Carolina. Senior Amanda Babineau|Stafford (Mountain View) scored the first goal of the match for the Lancers (5-7, 1-1 NorPac) before Finley Amato scored two goals, including the match-winner in the 62nd minute, for the Wildcats (5-4, 1-0 NorPac). Longwood is back in action on Sunday, October 2, when it travels to NorPac foe Appalachian State University at 1 p.m. in Boone, North Carolina.

Babineau gave Longwood the early 1-0 lead when she collected a rebound off a missed shot by sophomore Stacey de Grandhomme|Cape Town, South Africa (Table View) and scored at 7:41. Amato answered at 8:52 when she scored from the top of the circle on a penalty corner. Amato scored the match-winner at 61:51 after she took advantage of a Longwood turnover and scored from the right side from 10 yards out.

Davidson outshot the Lancers 15-5 and had an 8-2 advantage in penalty corners. de Grandhomme and junior Brittany Diaz|Chesapeake (Western Branch) each attempted two shots with one shot on goal for Longwood. Junior goalkeeper Kaye Goulding|Tickhill, England (Wakefield Girls) recorded nine saves while playing all 70 minutes in goal. Davidson was paced by Amato with match-highs of seven shots and five shots on goal. Sarah Fisher made two saves while playing the duration in goal.
