Longwood Falls At George Mason 4-0

FAIRFAX, Va. - The Longwood University men's soccer team fell at George Mason University 4-0 on Wednesday night in Fairfax, Virginia. Kevin Chico/Harrisonburg (Eastern Mennonite HS) led the Lancers (1-4-2) with three shots, two on goal. Longwood returns to action on Saturday, September 26, at VMI in Lexington at 2 p.m..
 
The first half was a defensive struggle until George Mason (4-2-0) scored the first goal of the match in the 32nd minute on a shot off a free kick by Irvin Martinez. Both teams attempted just four shots in the first half and neither had a corner kick.

The teams took more offensive chances in the second half with Longwood attempting 11 shots and George Mason taking 14. The Patriots scored on three of those shots, all in a 3:45 stretch. Draymond Washington scored in the 57th minute on a pass from the right wing. Victor Freeman followed in the 58th minute with a goal on a breakaway and Alhagi Toure scored in the 60th minute to end the flurry.

George Mason edged Longwood in shots 18-15. Brian Germain/McLean (Langley) had two shots, both on goal while  Zack Mahon/San Antonio, Texas (William Howard Taft) and Giovanni Peralta/Lorton (Robert E. Lee) each had one shot on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Ben Eanes/Troutville, Va. (Lord Botetourt) had six saves in 85 minutes in goal for Longwood.

The Patriots were led by Freeman and Washington who each had one goal and one assist. Sean Kelley had six saves in 76 minutes in goal for George Mason.
