FLORENCE, S.C. -- Longwood University dropped a 3-0 women's soccer road decision at Francis Marion University Sunday afternoon in Florence, South Carolina. The Lancers are now 8-7-1, while the Patriots improved to 3-11-1. Longwood now has a nine-day break before playing again on Tuesday night, October 27, on the road at Howard University in Washington, D.C. beginning at 7 p.m..

Longwood trailed 1-0 at the intermission as Rebeccah Hoekstra scored for Francis Marion at 24:41 with an assist from Jennifer Dyer. The Patriots secured their home victory with back-to-back goals at 70:23 and 72:01; Kelly Kady and Dyer finding the back of the net, respectively.

“We didn't play good soccer today, and we didn't compete hard enough to get past that,” said 16th-year head coach Todd Dyer '93 (174-103-16). “The big question now is whether or not we have the passion and the focus to fix it, and we'll find out this next week.”

Francis Marion took a 12-6 advantage in shots, including 6-3 in attempts on-goal, though Longwood had a 5-2 edge on corner kicks. Keeper Casey Durham played the duration with three saves for the Patriots.
