LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Longwood University field hockey team (0-2) dropped its second game of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling 4-1 to Bucknell (1-1) in Lewisburg, Pa. The Lancers lone goal came from senior
Carla Binnewies/ Hamburg, Germany (Carl vn Ossietzkly Gymnasium), who scored her first goal of the season. L?ongwood returns to action on Thursday, September 4 hosing California at the Athletics Complex in Farmville in a NorPac matchup. The game is set to begin at 4 p.m.
The Lancers found themselves trailing early as the Bison put their first goal on the board two minutes into the game. Bucknell would go onto add three more goals in the first 15 minutes of action, sending Longwood into the half trailing 4-0.
Longwood would get on the board early into the second half, with sophomore Lauren Van de Kamp/Midlothian (Trinity Episcopal) and freshman
Olga Knop/Berlin, Germany (Wener-von-Siemens-Gymnasium) setting up Binnewies for the Lancers only goal.
"This game was similar to our first," said head coach
Iain Byers. "We were sluggish in the first half of the game, but were able to come out and dominate the second. Unfortunately we were not able to take put away our chances."
The Lancers outshot the Bison 12-6, while also having the advantage in penalty corners (6-4). Senior
Erin West/Stafford (North Stafford) played all 70 minutes in goal for Longwood, recording two saves.
