Tom Mandato came to Longwood in the fall of 2022 as the associate athletics director for facilities, events and administration and was elevated to Deputy Athletics Director for Administration.
A veteran of college athletics, Mandato comes to Longwood from UMBC, where he served as the senior associate athletic director for internal operations for five years. He worked closely with current Athletics Director Tim Hall for five years at UMBC.
In Mandato’s role at UMBC, he was a senior advisor on a variety of athletic facility projects and initiatives, including the lead administrator during the construction process of a new $85 million Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena.
In addition, he had oversight of the department budget that encompassed a variety of areas. He also had a hand in facilities management to ensure the equipment and facilities were maintained and operational. In his time there, he was the sport administrator for a number of sports. In that role, he worked closely with his respective coaches and programs to provide comprehensive support.
Prior to working at UMBC, Mandato worked at Towson University as an Assistant Manager for Facilities and Event Operations.
Mandato earned his Master’s in Business Administration from Towson in 2010, and he holds a bachelor’s degree from Temple.
