Robert Boyd joined the team in 2025 as Volunteer Assistant Coach. Robert graduated from Longwood in 1981 after obtaining two bachelor's degrees. He played on the first men’s golf team in school history and was the team’s first captain and has been an active supporter of our athletic programs, and particularly golf, for decades.
His additional golf specific volunteer activities have includied chairing committees for the 2002 and 2023 USGA Junior Amateurs, the 2001 and 2011 PGA Championships, the 2014 US Amateur, and the 2017 Arnold Palmer Cup. He also has served as the Tournament Chairman for the American Junior Golf Association’s Rolex Tournament of Champions. Robert is currently a volunteer with Youth of Course, The First Tee, The Carolina’s Golf Association’s Hall of History Committee and The Atlanta Athletic Club’s Historical Archives Advisory Committee.
In addition to typical efforts in assisting Coach Weaver, Robert will focus on securing additional courses for the team to play (both in proximity to the school and in the UK), fundraising, and golf team alumni reunions.
