Lucas Taves was promoted to assistant baseball coach after graduating from Longwood University in May 2026, where he served as the program's Student Director of On-Field Operations and Analytics from 2022-26.

During his time with the Lancers, Taves implemented TrackMan data analytics for the program and had extensive responsibilities in player development, practice preparation, and game operations. He had full oversight of the catching group, prepared and executed practice plans, and assisted with offensive, infield, and outfield development. Taves also served as a bullpen catcher from 2022-24 before continuing to assist with bullpens in 2025 and 2026.

Taves also gained coaching experience with the Martha's Vineyard Sharks in 2024, serving as an assistant coach and Director of Analytics and Synergy. He worked as a first base coach, helped implement offensive and base-running systems, oversaw infield defense, and contributed to catcher and player development.

In addition, Taves served as head coach of the Trumansburg Babe Ruth League in New York, leading the program to an 18-1 record and regional championship in 2024.

Taves graduated from Longwood University in May 2026 with a bachelor's degree in History.
