Alex Dinger enters her second year with Longwood Athletics in 2026-27, now serving as the Director of Athletics Academic Services after spending the 2025-26 season as an athletic academic advisor.
During the 2025-26 academic year, Dinger provided academic support and advising for Longwood's men's and women's cross country and track & field programs, women's lacrosse, men's and women's golf, and women’s field hockey. Under her support and guidance, Longwood student-athletes achieved record-setting academic success, led by the highest Presidential Honor Roll rate in the Big South Conference, with 85.77 percent of eligible Longwood student-athletes earning the distinction.
Longwood student-athletes also posted a program-record 3.48 GPA during the 2025-26 academic year, including a 3.45 spring semester GPA, the second-highest spring GPA in school history. The women's teams posted a school-record 3.59 spring GPA, led by women's golf with a 3.71 GPA and women's lacrosse with a 3.65 GPA. Men's golf led the men's teams with a 3.70 GPA, while men's cross country/track & field posted a 3.30 GPA. More than 100 student-athletes earned Dean's List honors, while 40 earned President's List recognition with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Additionally, 83 percent of Longwood student-athletes finished the spring semester with a GPA above 3.0, and the department extended its streak to 19 consecutive semesters with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
During the 2024-25 Academic year, she worked as a Graduate Assistant Sports Performance coach after previously interning from 2022-2024 as an undergraduate student-athlete.
Dinger was a five-year member of the Lancers' women's soccer team from 2020-24, finished her career with six goals and eight assists for 20 points while appearing in a program-record 84 career games in the midfield. A native of Fredericksburg, Va., Dinger was an All-Big South Honorable Mention selection in 2020 and was named Longwood's Freshman Female Athlete of the Year. She earned All-Big South Second Team honors in both 2023 and 2024 and was selected to the Big South All-Tournament Team. Dinger was also named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team and was a nominee for the Big South Woman of the Year award.
Dinger graduated from Longwood as a student-athlete with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
