Rodney Duncan

Rodney Duncan joined the Longwood women's tennis staff in August 2017, assisting head coach Maria Lopez in all aspects of the program from practices, to in-match adjustments to recruiting.

Duncan brings plenty of coaching experience with him to the women’s tennis program, as he comes to Farmville after serving as the Volunteer Assistant Coach at Liberty in the 2016-17 season.

In his first season at Longwood, Duncan helped coach the Lancers to a 9-11 record - a two-win boost from the previous season - and a Big South tournament win in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.

Prior to his time with the Flames, Duncan was a Wilson Tennis Camp Instructor from 2011-16. Duncan also served as the Head Women’s Tennis Coach at Holy Cross High School from 2007-10 and served as a Wooster Racket Club and Wooster Tennis camp instructor from 1984-87.

A graduate of the College of Wooster, Duncan played for a top-20 nationally-ranked Division III tennis team where he still holds the program record for most singles wins in a single season. In his senior season, he led the Fighting Scots with 28 singles victories, three more than any other player in program history.

Lopez, Duncan and the Lancers begin their fall season Sept. 15th in the Elon Fall Invitational, the first of three tournaments they’ll compete in as a tune-up for the spring.
