FARMVILLE, Va. — Longwood director of tennis Charlotte Clarke announced the addition of six men's tennis signees on Tuesday.
Joining the Lancers for the 2026-27 season are transfers Marc Ferrando, Rodrigo Guijarro and Ričards Špaks as well as freshmen Gustav Facchini, Orry Farnworth and John Felts.
"We are thrilled to welcome Ričards Špaks, Marc Ferrando and Rodrigo Guijarro as transfer students and John Felts, Orry Farnworth and Gustav Facchini as freshmen to the Longwood tennis family," Clarke said. "Our new freshman bring a fresh perspective, energy and eagerness to improve to our program. Each of them have had successful junior careers and proven results, which will propel them into collegiate tennis and push our program to the next level.
"Alongside our freshmen, we bring in a wealth of experience spanning the top levels of D-I, D-II and D-III tennis with our transfers, Rodrigo Guijarro, Marc Ferrando and Ričards Špaks," continued Clarke. "These players are well rehearsed in the highest levels of college tennis and I am confident their collegiate results so far and future growth at Longwood will propel us to new heights. I am excited to see what this group can accomplish this season."
Marc Ferrando
Sophomore

Valencia, Spain/Sixth Form 21/Northwood
Ferrando spent 2025-26 at NCAA Division II Northwood in Midland, Mich. He helped the Timberwolves to an 18-3 overall record, going 7-1 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
Northwood won the league and advanced to second round of NCAA tournament. Ferrando played to 17-2 record in singles, including a perfect 13-0 at No. 3, winning his final 14 singles matches overall. Ferrando was 13-8 in doubles, all from No. 1 position.
Rodrigo Guijarro
Junior

Zaragoza, Spain/AESA Prep Academy/Oral Roberts
Guijarro played the 2025-26 season at NCAA Division I Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Okla., going 9-9 in singles and 12-9 in doubles for the Golden Eagles. ORU was 10-16 as a team, 2-3 in conference and advanced to the Summit League tournament for the first time since 2018.
Ričards Špaks
Junior

Liepaja, Latvia/Liepajas Raina Vidusskola/Lynchburg/Southern Miss
Špaks played last season at NCAA Division III Lynchburg and 2024-25 at Division I Southern Miss. He was named 2025-26 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Year and All-ODAC first team in singles. Špaks earned ODAC Player of the Week in singles and doubles three times each. He was 14-2 in singles and 11-6 in doubles with the Hornets.
At Southern Miss, Špaks won one singles match and two doubles matches.
Gustav Facchini
Freshman

Lund, Sweden/ICL Academy
Faccini played four years of tennis in high school, earning 92 total wins, including 46 as a senior. He played team competitions for Södra Sandby Tennis Club from 2021-26 and for Villaforte Tennis Club in 2025-26, compiling to a 17-9 record at the latter.
Faccini's best ITF result was a singles quarterfinal in the J30 Copenhagen event while advancing to the doubles final in in the same tournament.
Orry Farnworth
Freshman

Ramsey, Isle of Man/Culford School
Farnworth is a graduate of the Culford School in Suffolk, England, and played four years of tennis at the school. A team captain, he represented Isle of Man men's team and Culford first team as a junior and senior.
John Felts
Freshman
5-10 • 150 pounds
Norfolk, Va./Maury
Felts played tennis and ran cross country at Maury High School. He was a two-time region singles champion as a junior and senior. Felts also earned four region doubles titles. He was a state tournament semifinalist as a junior.
