FARMVILLE, Va.- Longwood women's lacrosse returns home to face Winthrop on Saturday. It will be Senior Day for the Lancers (1-6, 0-1 Big South).
 
History:
  • The two teams have faced off 14 times, with Winthrop (5-4, 0-1 Big South) leading the series 9-5.
  • The two teams have alternated wins in the last five years, dating back to 2021, with each team winning at home in that stretch.
  • Two seasons ago, Longwood won 19-15 in Farmville at Elizabeth Burger Jackson Field
  • Last year, Winthrop won 22-9 in Rock Hill, S.C. 
Scouting Winthrop:
  • The leading scorer for Winthrop is Tori Ianotti, who has a team-best 24 goals to go with four assists.
  • Ianotti was the Big South Player of the Week in the second week of the season after scoring 10 goals on 13 shots.
  • Emily Hollinger (15 goals, two assists), Christina Warren (14 goals, seven assists) and Ava Claire Collins (11 goals, five assists) are the other players with at least 10 goals on the season.
  • Katie Seiler leads the team with nine assists, and Olivia Paton is second with eight. Five different players have at least five assists.
  • Gabby Pierpont has a team-best 27 draw controls, and Iris Leavitt has 22 on the season.
  • Lily Davis has a team-best 17 ground balls to go with 13 caused turnovers, while Christina Warren has a team-best 14 CTs to go with 13 ground balls.
  • Mikaylah Lindsay has been the primary goalkeeper and holds a 5-4 record with 72 saves and a .450 save percentage.
Longwood's Leaders: Sophomore Scoring:
  • Longwood's top four point producers are all sophomores: Rogers (19 points), Stratton (13 points), Hirst (13 points) and Forman (eight points).
  • Rogers has scored multiple goals five times in the team's seven games.
  • The sophomore has scored four goals in a game twice: Feb. 6 at Coastal Carolina and Feb. 21 against Campbell. She is fourth in the Big South in goals per game (2.4).
  • Rogers has scored multiple goals in each of the team's past three games, including a hat trick at Wofford on March 25 to open league play.
  • Stratton, meanwhile, scored a career-best five goals in the team's win over Old Dominion on March 17, with the five goals a season high by any player on the team. The five goals were the most by the Lancers since Riley McDonald scored five goals against Mercer on May 3, 2024 in the Big South Tournament Quarterfinals.
Jack Of All Trades:
  • Jordan Fitzgerald leads Longwood with 26 draw controls, good for 3.71 draw controls per game.
  • She ranks fourth in the Big South in draw controls per game.
  • The junior midfielder has added four goals, an assist, five ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Senior Stopper:
  • Goalkeeper Isabella McCullough has ranked among the nation's leaders as a shot stopper all season long.
  • She has posted 76 saves in seven contests, with her 10.86 saves per game ranking third nationally and tops in the Big South. Her 76 saves are third in the league.
  • In addition, her save percentage of 0.444 is good for third in the league.
Feisty Defenders:
  • Longwood's defense ranks second in the Big South, and 17th nationally, in caused turnovers per game with 10.86.
  • Senior defenders Zenie Newsom and Lily Stohlman lead the team with 10 caused turnovers, and freshman Peyton Daley has eight.
  • Newsom is eighth in the league in CTs per game (1.43).
