THE OPENING TIP
•    Longwood wraps up a two-game road swing with a trip to Winthrop on Saturday afternoon.
•    The Lancers earned a road win at Gardner-Webb, their first conference road win of the season, on Wednesday night.
•    Longwood is tied for fourth with UNC Asheville in the Big South standings, with both teams at 5-5 in league action.
•    Both teams lead Presbyterian, who was off Wednesday night, by half a game, and they are also one game behind Radford.
•    The Lancers take on a Winthrop side that has won nine straight and is tied for first in Big South play at 9-1.
•    Longwood has six games remaining in the regular season prior to the Big South Tournament that runs from March 4-8 in Johnson City, Tenn.
•    Elijah Tucker leads the team in scoring in league action, averaging 13.5 points per game.
 
LAST TIME OUT
•    Longwood powered home 52 points in the paint behind big days for Johan Nziemi and Elijah Tucker in an 86-66 win at Gardner-Webb.
•    Nziemi had a career-best 20 points to lead all scorers on Wednesday night, and Tucker added 16 points and seven rebounds.
•    The duo also combined for six of Longwood's 13 assists.
•    Jacoi Hutchinson (15 points) and Emanuel Richards (12 points) also finished in double figures.
•    The Lancers raced out to an early double-digit lead behind Tucker's strong start. He had 10 points in the first half.
•    Jamias Ferere led GWU with 16 points and helped GWU tie the game at 31 all in the first half.
•    However, Tucker led the charge to give Longwood a nine-point halftime lead.
•    GWU cut it to four after halftime, but Nziemi scored 12 of Longwood's final 16 points to pull away in the final eight minutes.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
•    In the team's five conference wins, Longwood has held its opponent to 70 points or below four times, with the fifth game going to overtime.
•    The Lancers won their first Big South road game of the season on Wednesday night, which was the team's third true road win of the season.
•    Longwood has had at least three true road wins in each of Ronnie Thomas's years on the team's basketball staff.
•    The Lancers haven't won in Rock Hill since the 2018-19 campaign, when the team knocked off Winthrop in Big South play 75-61.
•    This season, the Lancers are the only team in the Big South to have three sets of back-to-back road dates in league play. No other team has more than two.
•    When Longwood returns home, it will be to host an ESPNU game when the team takes on UNC Asheville on Thursday, February 12, marking the third straight season, and fourth time in five seasons, that Longwood has hosted ESPN in Farmville.
•    Longwood shot better than 50 percent from the floor against Gardner-Webb, marking the 10th time this season the Lancers have hit better than half their shots in a game. When doing so, the team is 8-1.
•    The Lancers are also 12-1 when leading at the half this season.
•    In league play, Elijah Tucker leads the Lancers with 8.4 rebounds per game.
•    Longwood has outscored its opponents by 107 points in the first half, and the Lancers are 11-1 when leading at the half.
•    Six times this season, Longwood has held its opponent to 25 points or less in the opening 20 minutes.
•    In Big South play, Longwood has also held its opponent to fewer than 30 points in the first half five times, and the team is 4-1 in those games.
•    Longwood has played nine games this season decided by five points or less, with two games going to overtime. The Lancers are 4-5 in such games and 1-1 in OT.

•    Longwood won the first meeting between the two teams this season in Farmville.
•    In the win, four players scored in double figures as the Lancers shot better than 50 percent from the floor.
