FARMVILLE, Va. — The Longwood women's tennis team topped visiting Ferrum, 6-1, on the New Lancer Courts on Wednesday.

Longwood, which evened its record to 2-2 with the win, dropped just a single game in doubles action as Feline van Eijkelenburg and Elizaveta Gnilozubova defeated Hannah Huffman and Chloe Smith on court two and Bali Song and Oriana Izarra topped Bianca Solorzano and Stephanie Porras, 6-1, on court one. Alexandra Magia and Genevive Dickey earned the win at No. 3 by default.

In singles, Gnilozubova defeated Porras, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, Alexis Broderick and Nicole Di Bisceglia did the same to Huffman at No. 3 and Smith at No. 4, respectively.

Dickey and Magia won by default at Nos. 4 and 5.

Solorzano outlasted Izarra at No. 1 in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 11-9, to get Ferrum (0-1) on the scoreboard.

The Lancers are back at it Thursday traveling to Williamsburg, Va., to take on William & Mary. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
