Men’s Tennis Wins Third Straight, Beating Ferrum, 6-1

Lancers even record to 3-3 in spring

FARMVILLE, Va. — The Longwood men's tennis team reeled off its third consecutive victory with a 6-1 decision against Ferrum at the New Lancer Courts on Wednesday.

Longwood, which evened its record to 3-3 with the victory, swept doubles to open the day, dropping just two games combined over the three matches. 

Daniel Lopez and Alejandro Uribe topped Omar Martinez and Emilio Munguia on fourth three before Marko Mrdak and Rufus Plane defeated Sebastian Ondas and Brian Karenzi, 6-1, to clinch the point. Timéo Puech and Daniel Borisov completed the sweep with a 6-1 win versus Emanuel Ferreira and Tobi Teller.

In singles, Petter Lindquist beat Ondas, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2, while Ninad Raut defeated Munguia by the same score on court four to make it 3-0.

Lopez won at No. 1, 6-1, 6-1, over Ferreira prior to Uribe winning, 6-2, 6-3 against Teller at No. 3.

Karenzi got Ferrum (0-1) on the board with a 6-3, 6-3 win versus Gary Huang at No. 5, but Ryan Foster closed out the dual with a 6-1, 6-1 against Gabriel Alvarez at No. 6.

Longwood is back in action on Saturday at Hampton at 1 p.m.
