FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood lacrosse (0-1) hits the road to face off against the William & Mary Tribe (0-1) at the Martin Family Field and Albert-Daly Field.
 
Matchup History: Longwood and William & Mary have faced off 25 times. The Tribe leads the matchup 23-2, with the Lancers' last win coming in 2013 in a 12-10 victory. William & Mary won the most recent meeting 16-8 last spring.
 
Tracking the Tribe: 
  • William & Mary are returning three of their leading scorers, Kate Draddy (26 goals, eight assists), Finley Hoffman (19 goals, one assist), and Alexis Savage (eight goals, one assist). 
  • The Tribe were voted to finish six out of eight teams in the CAA preseason poll, with one member of the team making preseason all-CAA honors, Kate Draddy with 26 goals, eight assists, 134 draw controls, and 27 caused turnovers last season. 
  • Marin Wilhem returns for her senior year in goal, last season she had 138 saves and posted a 0.375 save percentage. 
Multi-Pronged Lance: Fresh Legs:
  • The Lancers have a young squad with freshman and sophomores doing the bulk of the scoring. Five of the six goal scorers at Coastal Carolina were underclassmen.
  • The Lancers have 18 players who are either freshman or sophomores.
  • Freshman and sophomores are getting time across the field, with at least one underclassmen on each end of the field. 
Road Warriors:
  • Longwood plays its first two matches on the road, first against Coastal Carolina, then on Valentines Day against William & Mary. 
  • The Lancers will kick off their home campaign against another CAA foe, Campbell, February 21 at 1p.m. 
  • They will then hit the road again for a midweek matchup against VCU on February 25.
