THE OPENING TIP
•    Longwood wraps up a two-game homestand this weekend with a matchup against USC Upstate.
•    The game will feature a Diaper Derby, presented by Invest529.
•    In addition, the Lancers are hosting a book drive, with fans able to bring one book to donate for one free ticket.
•    The matchup between Longwood and USC Upstate pits two teams separated by 1.5 games in the league standings.
•    Longwood sits 1.5 games back of third with four games to go in the regular season.
•    The Big South announced a scheduling alliance with the SoCon on Thursday morning, with each team in the league playing a pair of matchups, one home and one road, in non-conference play beginning in 2026-27.
•    The Big South Tournament, sponsored by the Air Force Reserve, is less than a month away, with every team in the league qualifying for the event which runs from March 4-8 in Johnson City, Tennessee.
 
LAST TIME OUT
•    Longwood went down to the wire on ESPNU against UNC Asheville on Thursday night before ultimately falling 79-74.
•    Asheville had three players with at least 20 points: Toyaz Solomon and Justin Wright had 24 apiece, and Kameron Taylor added 22, including a game-sealing layup with less than a minute to play.
•    Alphonzo Billups III led four Lancers in double figures, scoring a season-high 20 points while going 8-11 from the floor. Elijah Tucker had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Johan Nziemi added 11 points, and Redd Thompson Jr. chipped in 10.
•    He helped Longwood rally from a 17-point deficit after halftime to take the lead, and the two teams were separated by one possession for the final seven minutes of the game.
•    Longwood held Asheville scoreless for eight minutes, and without a field goal for 10 before Asheville closed the contest with a 9-3 run.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
•    Longwood has now had seven players lead the team in scoring in a game this season after Alphonzo Billups III paced the team with 20 points against UNC Asheville.
•    Elijah Tucker has led the team in scoring nine times, the highest mark on the squad. Longwood is 7-2 when Tucker leads the team in points.

•    Johan Nziemi went to the foul line nine times against UNC Asheville, marking the ninth time this season that he has attempted at least eight free throws in a game. He leads Longwood with 135 free throw attempts on the season.
•    Longwood is 8-4 when shooting more free throws than its opponent this season, and the Lancers have shot at least 30 free throws in a game eight times.
•    Longwood is 12-1 when leading at the half this season, with the lone loss coming at Wake Forest.
•    The Lancers have held their opponent to 70 points or less five times in league play, and the team is 4-1 in such games.
