FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood men's golf had a trio of student-athletes be named Golf Coaches Association of America Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars.
Nick Fleming,
Scott Jordan and
David Lafreniere all earned the honor, which is awarded to a student-athlete who competes in at least half of their team's competitive rounds, hold a stroke average under 76 and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2. In addition, the recipient must also be of high moral character and in good standing at the university.
The three golfers fit the bill, and they helped Longwood win three tournaments during the course of the regular season.
Fleming was sharp in his lone season in Farmville. He had two top 10 finishes and one top five effort, and he posted a stroke average of 72.50.
For the season, he ranked sixth in the Big South in scoring average, and he earned an All-Big South Honorable Mention nod following the conference tournament.
Jordan, meanwhile, earned First Team All-Big South honors on the strength of a 71.92 scoring average that was second in the Big South. He carded four top 10 finishes, which was second-most in the Big South, with two of those being top five efforts.
He was also the Big South Golfer of the Week once, and he has been a Dean's List regular. This is his third GCAA Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honor.
Lafreniere, a sophomore, earns his first GCAA academic honor behind a solid second-year campaign. He ranked 12
th in the Big South with a 73.22 scoring average, and he competed in nine events for the Lancers. He posted his best finish in the Big South Champinship, when he carded a 74-69-70—213 (E) to finish 13
th.
