LAFAYETTE, La. — Junior
Sophia Knock smashed a pair of three-run home runs to power the Longwood softball team to a 7-5 victory over George Mason on the second day of the 39th Annual Louisiana Classics at Lamson Park on. Saturday.
Knock hit her first of the day to left field with no one out in the third inning, knotting the game, 4-4. Then, with Longwood trailing, 5-4, in the seventh, she rocketed a 2-1 pitch to right, giving the Lancers the lead for good and herself a career-high-tying six RBIs.

With her 11th and 12th career homers, Knock now has multiple blasts in a game for the second time in two seasons after hitting three against Northern Iowa in Auburn, Ala., on Feb. 23, 2024.
The win helped Longwood (2-2) split the day following a 5-3 defeat to Seton Hall in the morning.

Maggie Hiatt lined a one-out single to center field to score
Avery Drake, who got on with a single of her own.
The Patriots took the lead with two runs in the bottom half of the frame and two more in the second, opening a three-run edge.
Avery Jefferson then doubled to start the third and before
Brooke Bennett singled to third base to set the stage for the first Knock bomb.
That's the way it stayed until the bottom of the sixth when Mason loaded the bases on a Charlotte Montgomery single, Maddy Johnson double and Emily Lampela walk.
Morgan Strickland then hit Maya McGowan with a 1-1 offering, giving the Patriots the lead.
It didn't last long, though, as Jefferson walked with one out win the seventh, Bennett singled to center and the pair moved up on a wild pitch prior to Knock's go-ahead homer.
Maggie Chapin worked around a single to strike out both Logan Pickford and Montgomery in the bottom of the inning. Chapin then got Madi Sobota to line out down the left field line, sealing the win.
Chapin improved to 1-1 in the circle, recording the final four outs.
Jefferson and Bennett each also collected two of the Lancers' 10 hits in the game, joining Knock the two homers.
Harlowe Nigh (0-1) suffered the loss for George Mason, giving up three hits two walks and three runs.
Seton Hall (2-1)jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the fifth inning of the first game of the day before the Lancers made it interesting. Sophomore
Naleya Bridges hit her first collegiate home run off of Rachael Schumann, taking a 2-1 pitch over the fence in left field to cut into the lead.
In the seventh, Hiatt hit a ground ball to second base that Jessica Muniz bobbled with the bases loaded, chasing Jefferson, who singled, in from third.
That, however, was as close as Longwood got as Kelsey Carr returned to the circle to retire the next three batters in order.
Carr (2-0) started and threw six innings, scattering six hits, three walks and a run, while fanning four. Carr was also 3-for-3 at the plate. with three runs driven and two scored.
Bridges went 3-for-3, as well, earning multiple hits in a game for the second time in her her career.
The Lancers close the weekend with a 1 p.m. central time game with Louisiana on Sunday that will be streamed on ESPN+.
