THE OPENING TIP
•    Longwood closes its pre-holiday portion of non-conference play with a trip to North Carolina Central on Saturday afternoon.
•    The Lancers wrap up a two-game road swing in the process after playing at Wake Forest on Wednesday night.
•    Longwood has one remaining non-conference game when it hosts Averett on December 28.
•    North Carolina Central was picked to tie for fifth with Delaware State in the MEAC Preseason Poll.
•    Longwood was picked third in the Big South preseason poll, although two total points separated the third through fifth place teams.
•    Elijah Tucker was a Preseason All-Big South First Team selection
•    Longwood has been one of the best teams in getting to the line in the nation, and nearly 30 percent of the team's points have come at the foul line this season.
 
LAST TIME OUT
•    A gritty Longwood side doggedly gave Wake Forest everything it could handle, and a late attempt to send teh game to overtime was just wide as Wake Forest won 71-68.
•    The Lancers outrebounded Wake Forest, scored more second-chance points, and scored more points off turnovers while also keeping points in the paint nearly equal.
•    Redd Thompson Jr. was sensational for Longwood, hitting a career-high six threes to score a career-best 22 points. He scored 11 straight points after halftime to help tie the game at 65 and nearly forced overtime.
•    Elijah Tucker and Johan Nziemi also scored in double figures, with Tucker garnering a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double and Nziemi adding 13 points and a career-best six assists.
•    Three scored in double figures for Wake Forest: Juke Harris (19 points), Nate Calmese (12 points) and Myles Colvin (11 points).
 
BY THE NUMBERS
•    Longwood is playing its fourth and final MEAC opponent of the season, with two having come at home and two on the road.
•    The Lancers will play their fifth true road game of the season.
•    At Wake Forest, the Lancers assisted on 16 of 22 made shots, good for an assist on .727 of their made field goals, a season-high. The team has been at 50 percent or better eight times in 13 games.
•    Longwood ranks eighth in the nation in made free throws per game, with 21, and 22nd nationally in attempts per game at 27.3. Both marks lead the Big South.
•    The Lancers have made at least 25 free throws in a game five times this season, and they have attempted at least 40 free throws in a game four times.
•    Six times, the team has shot better than 85 percent from the free throw line in a game, including an 18-20 effort against Delaware State on December 13. The .900 free throw percentage in that game was a season-best mark.
•    Longwood outrebounded Wake Forest by six, the eighth time this season the team has outrebounded its opposition. The Lancers are 5-3 in such games.
•    Longwood also attacks the paint, and the team is 6-2 when scoring at least 30 points in the paint. The team's season-high is 72 points in the paint, done against Pfeiffer on 12-3.
•    Four times, the team has had a game with five players reaching double figures, and the Lancers are 3-1 in such contests.
•    The Lancers rank second in the Big South and 42nd nationally by forcing 15.3 turnovers per game.
