THE OPENING TIP
•    Longwood travels for its first road game of the season with a trip to Pittsburgh to take on the Panthers out of the ACC.
•    This is the first meeting of the two programs, and the Lancers last faced an ACC opponent in December last season when the team traveled to SMU on December 29.
•    Following the trip to Pitt, the Lancers open a three-game homestand with James Madison on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
•    Pitt was chosen 14th in the ACC, and the Lancers were selected third in the Big South Preseason Poll.
•    Elijah Tucker was named to the Preseason First Team All-Big South team by the league coaches, joining Isaiah Wilkins as the only Lancers on the preseason all-conference first team.
•    Over the past four seasons, Longwood has won 85 games.

LAST TIME OUT
•    Longwood rolled past Mary Baldwin on opening night, 92-55, to cruise to the first career win for Ronnie Thomas.
•    A total of 11 Lancers scored in the win, with four players tallying double figures.
•    Johan Nziemi led the way with an efficient 16 points on 6-7 shooting while adding nine rebounds, and Jaylen Benard tied a career high with 14 points to go along with nine boards.
•    Jacoi Hutchinson put home 15 points in his Longwood debut, and Elijah Tucker chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds.
•    The Lancers controlled the glass, outrebounding Mary Baldwin 48-21 while snaring 19 offensive rebounds.
•    Four players had at least three offensive rebounds: Elijah Tucker (six) KJ McClurg (four), Benard (three), Elijah Jones (three).
•    Raymond Benton led MBU with 14 points.

BY THE NUMBERS
•    Over the past five seasons, Longwood has played a school in each of the Power 5 conferences during the regular season: Iowa and Georgetown (2021-22), Alabama (2022-23), Kansas State (2024-25 at the Paradise Jam), and Pitt and Wake Forest (2025-26).
•    In addition, the team has played high-profile mid-major matchups with Abilene Christian (2021-22), George Mason and Wichita State (2022-23), St. Bonaventure, Milwaukee and Dayton (2023-24), MIlwaukee, UAB and McNeese (2024-25) and  James Madison and Columbia this year.
•    The Lancers scored 92 points in the season opener, one year after scoring at least 90 points in a game three times, one of which was against Mary Baldwin.
•    Eleven players scored in the season opener, a feat the team achieved five times last year. In fact, the team had two games a season ago where 14 players tallied points.
•    Four players recorded double digits in the win, which has been the norm for the Lancers. Last season, the team had four players in double figures in scoring in a game 16 times.
•    As a team, Longwood won the rebounding battle 48-21, which is the biggest margin since winning the rebounding battle by 36 against Mary Baldwin when the two teams met in 2024.
•    The 19 offensive rebounds are the most since the team grabbed 24 offensive boards against UNC Asheville in January last season.
•    Longwood has won two Big South titles in four seasons and 85 games, one of three teams in the league to top 80 wins in a four-season span (High Point and UNC Asheville are the other two).
•    The Lancers have had four straight winning seasons for the first time since the 1980s.
