HAMPTON, Va. — The Longwood women's tennis team closed its fall season Saturday at the Pirate Hidden Duals, winning nine singles and four doubles matches.
The Lancers took on host Hampton, North Carolina Central, East Carolina and Christopher Newport on the day.
Longwood won three singles matches in straight sets as Feline van Eijkelenburg beat NCCU's Valeria Soria, 6-3, 6-3, Hima Fernando topped the Eagles' Mariana Zottoli, 6-4, 6-3, and Alexandra Magia defeated Ivona Savekova of East Carolina, 7-5, 6-4.
In doubles, Longwood received victories from Bali Song and van Eijkelenburg over Sara Barbaric and Soria, 6-3, Elizaveta Gnilozubova and Magia against Valentina de Aquino and Gabriela Arenas from NCCU, 7-5, and Nicole Di Bisceglia and Alexis Broderick versus Erin Gross and Nathalie Lanne from CNU, 6-0.
Song and van Eijkelenburg also teamed to defeat ECU's Veronika Pavlenko and Xenia Jeromin (ECU) 7-5.
Longwood finished the fall season 39-24 in singles action and 16-14 in doubles.
