Box Score FREDRICKSBURG, Va. – The Longwood men's tennis team won nine matches on the final day of the UMW Kickoff Classic at Mary Washington's University Tennis Complex on Sunday.
The Lancers earned victories in five singles and four doubles matches on the day.
In singles action, Timéo Puech defeated Daniel Ardila of Johns Hopkins, 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (3),
Mauricio Gonzalez Paiva topped George Mason's Niza Simunyola, 6-0, 6-1,
Alejandro Uribe beat Mason's Shari Saeed, 7-6 (2), 6-0.
Ian Perl also dispatched Keldibek Kozhoev of Mary Washington, 8-3, while
Ryan Foster got the better of UMW's Aidan Meehan by the same tally.
On the doubles courts, Puech and
Marko Mrdak took care of the Patriots' Jacco Arends and Zavan Fahim, 7-5, and Gonzalez Paiva and
Petar Belosevic topped Dylan Blenkiron and Allen Gong from Hopkins, 6-4.
Puech and Mrdak then beat the Blue Jays' Brian Yi and Marco Azar, 6-1. Finally,
Petter Lindquist and Uribe defeated Pranav Gadiraju and Chakor Rajendra, also from Johns Hopkins, 6-2.
Longwood returns to action in the Davidson Invitational on Sept. 27-29.
