FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Longwood men's tennis team opened the fall season at the UMW Kickoff Classic at Mary Washington's University Tennis Complex on Saturday.
The Lancers won 10 singles matches and two doubles matches to begin the two-day event that also features the host Eagles, George Mason and Johns Hopkins.
It also marked the Longwood coaching debut of first-year director of tennis,
Charlotte Clarke.
Three Lancers –
Mauricio Gonzalez Paiva,
Timéo Puech and
Alejandro Uribe – won both of their singles matches on the day.
Puech teamed with
Marko Mrdak and
Gary Huang with
Ian Perl to win on the doubles courts.
The event concludes Sunday. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
