DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Longwood men's tennis team won nine matches as singles play began at the Davidson Invitational on Saturday.
Timeo Puech won his encounter with Davidson's Uddayvir Singh, 6-2, 7-6, in the A draw before falling to Eduardo Dias of Gardner-Webb, 6-3, 6-1.
In the B draw,
Alejandro Uribe topped Radford's Robert Hagen, 6-1, 6-0, while
Mauricio Gonzalez Paiva beat John Gabelic from UNC Greensboro, 6-1, 2-6, 12-10.
In the C draw,
Petar Belosevic won both of his matches on the day, defeating Radford's Evan Edwards and UNCG's Andrew Black. Belosevic won by a 6-3, 5-7, 10-5 count against Edwards and 6-0, 4-6, 11-9 versus Black.
In the D draw,
Seva Rusin topped Luke Thomson from UNCG, 6-4, 3-6, 11-9.
In the E draw,
Petter Lindquist beat Radford's Sean Milshteen, 6-3, 6-2.
Ian Perl and
Gary Huang both won in the F draw. Perl beat Billy Mac Clement from Gardner-Webb, 6-4, 6-1, and Huang topped Alan Trbonja of UNCG, 6-3, 1-6, 10-8.
The final day of competition begins at 9 a.m., on Sunday.
