Box Score 2 BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. -- On a day that saw Longwood and Gardner Webb battle for over 12 hours, the Lancers (18-23) would drop the final two games against the Bulldogs (15-24) on Saturday. Longwood dropped game one by a final of 8-5, and game two 2-0.

GAME ONE:
Gardner Webb struck first in the first inning on a Alec Burns home run. After the top half of the second inning, inclement weather would prove to come into play.
The game was on hold for over an hour due to weather in the area.
Brenton Fisher came out of the delay ready to go. He worked a quick half of the second following the delay.
Longwood got on the board in a big way in the fourth.
Tanner Thomas roped an rbi single into left field to bring the game within one. A batter later,
James Nelson blasted his first home run of the season to put the Lancers ahead 4-2.
The Lancers added an additional run in the top of the sixth thanks to a
Jared Glinski double.
In the bottom of the sixth, Longwood found themselves with bases loaded and no outs. After one pitch, the Lancers were put on halt again. A second rain delay added an additional hour of time in-between pitches.
Gardner Webb came out of the break hot. They roped back to back singles, and regained the lead. After the damage was done, Longwood trailed 6-5.
The Lancers failed to plate a run over the next three innings and fell short in game two 8-5.
Ried Dittner (1-2) took the loss for Longwood while Bryce Pazos (2-3) earned the win.
GAME TWO:
Game two proved to be a pitches duel from the start.
Dominick D'Ercole worked quick innings in the first, second, third, and fourth innings, keeping the Gardner Webb offense off balance. He worked multiple pitches for strikes, and produced a great outing for the Lancers.
The Lancer offense struggled at the plate in game three. Gardner Webb found themselves in multiple jams with Lancers in scoring position, but worked out of each situation.
Gardner Webb plated the only two runs of the game in the fifth on two hits to take a 2-0 lead.
From there Longwood threatened multiple times, but wasn't able to produce the timely hit, causing them to fall 2-0.
Ethan Wallker (1-3) took the loss for Longwood while CJ Czerwinski (2-2) picked up the win for Gardner Webb.
