WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary topped the Longwood men's tennis team, 4-0, at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West in non-conference action Saturday.
The Tribe won on doubles courts three and one, respectively, and at Nos. 1, 6 and 2 in singles to win the match and improve to 10-9 on the season.
Sean Joseph and Alexander Karman beat Luis Reis and Seva Rusin, 6-2, before Bill Duo and Konstantinos Raptis defeated Alejandro Hernandez and Lorenzo Meschini, 6-4.
Hernandez won the first set against Rapsis in his No. 1 singles match before retiring, down, 2-0, in the second. Nikita Bortnichek then defeated Rusin, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6 and Oliver Hague beat Petar Belosevic at No. 2, 6-4, 6-1, to clinch.
Longwood fell to 6-7 overall with the loss.
The Lancers will next be in action Wednesday at Richmond at 2 p.m. Longwood's match with UNCG, scheduled for Monday at the Lancer Courts, has been cancelled due to the threat of weather. It will not be rescheduled.
