HOW IT HAPPENED
Longwood got down early in game one which saw Presbyterian take a 4-0 lead thanks to hits from Brody Fahr and Joel Dragoo. Longwood respond in the bottom of the fourth with two runs of their own on two sacrifice flies courtesy of Matt Stevenson and Corbin McCloud. The ninth inning, the Lancers faced a two-run deficit. After seeing two base runners reach safely, Casey Gibbs ripped a double and Blagen Pado followed with a sac fly to tie the game, 4-4.. Unfortunately, Presbyterian scratched a run across in the top half of the 10th with run-scoring flyball from Aaron Hobson which proved to be the winning run as the Lancers stranded a runner in the bottom of the inning to drop game one. Owen Simmons (0-3) took the loss for the Lancers while Kyle Mueller (1-0) earned the victory for Presbyterian.
In game two, Presbyterian pitcher Charlie McDaniel was able to hold the Lancers' bats in check. He pitched six innings and allowed only five hits while fanning eight batters. The Lancers found themselves in a deficit again after Presbyterian scored three through two complete innings. McCloud singled in the bottom of the second to cut the deficit to 3-1. From there, the Blue Hose added two more runs in the fourth thanks to Brody Fahr and Joel Dragoo once again. Longwood battled as Juice Tobin roped a triple to the wall and then scored on a passed ball. Unfortunately, the pitching staff for Presbyterian continued to hold strong and seal the victory.
McDaniel (4-0) earned the win in game two while Guillermo Garcia Jr. (0-1) took the loss.
