THE OPENING TIP
•    Longwood takes on North Carolina Central following finals week at the university. The game will feature a Teddy Bear Toss. Fans can bring a teddy bear or other stuffed animal to the venue and exchange it for a free ticket. At halftime, fans can throw the teddy bears on to the court, where they will be collected to donate to the Teddy Bear Brigade.
•    The game wraps up a four-game homestand, the second such homestand for the Lancers this season.
•    The Lancers host an N.C. Central team in the first of a home-and-home meeting between the two teams this season.
•    The two teams will play again on December 20, less than a week after meeting for the first time.
•    Longwood and N.C. Central played a home-and-home last season, with the two teams splitting the games. The Lancers won the contest in Farmville, and N.C. Central won in Durham, North Carolina.
•    Longwood leads the Big South, and ranks 29th in the nation, in turnover margin. The Lancers force 4.4 more turnovers per game than they commit, and they are the only team with a turnover margin above four in the Big South.
 
LAST TIME OUT
•    Longwood jumped out to an early lead and never looked back against Mary Baldwin, winning 97-40.
•    The Lancers never trailed and jumped out to a 6-0 lead. Mary Baldwin trimmed it to 10-8 at one point, but then the Lancers ballooned the lead to 33 at halftime.
•    Michael Christmas led the way with 17 points in only 17 minutes for Longwood.
•    Trey Hicks and DJ Jefferson added 10 points apiece.
•    The 10 points were a career high for Hicks.
•    A total of 14 players scored for the Lancers, and the offense had 20 assists on 32 made shots.
•    Longwood shot .457 (32-70) from the floor and scored 46 points in the paint. In addition, the team had 15 fastbreak points.
•    Zach Sloan led Mary Baldwin with 13 points.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
•    Longwood won its third straight game, the second three-game winning streak of the season. 
•    The Lancers had three winning streaks of three games or more a season ago. The third winning streak included the team's run through the Big South Tournament en route to the championship.
•    The Lancers are 7-0 at the Joan Perry Brock Center this season and 20-3 in the venue since it opened a season ago.
•    The Lancers have won at least 10 home games four times in the previous six seasons under head coach Griff Aldrich.
•    Beginning in the 2021-22 season, Aldrich has led Longwood to a 48-7 record in Farmville.
•    The Lancer men are tied for the most wins in the state with nine, matching both Radford and Liberty.
•    The nine wins for the men, combined with 16 for the women, also are tied for the most in the state with George Mason.
•    With 14 players scoring in the win over Mary Baldwin, Longwood has had at least 10 players score in a game six times this season. The 14 players matched a season high, set against Regent.
•    Longwood leads the Big South in three-point percentage defense (.297) and is one of two teams in the league holding opponents below 30 percent shooting from three on average this season.
•    Longwood has boarded at least 40 percent of its own misses four times this season, including in back-to-back-to-back games.
•    Longwood's defense has forced at least 20 turnovers in a game three times.
•    The Lancers rank first in the Big South in turnover margin (+4.4), and the team is second in turnovers forced per game (16.8).
