GREENSBORO, N.C. – Longwood men's tennis was back in action over the weekend with a trip down to UNC Greensboro for the UNCG Fall Invitational.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
The invitational saw participants play doubles on Friday, with singles matches scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. However, inclement weather shut down the singles matches on Sunday afternoon.
 
On Friday, the Lancer doubles duo of Alejandro Hernandez and Timéo Puech led the way with two doubles wins in three matches.
 
When the singles matches began on Saturday, the Lancers put up a strong effort against high level competition.
 
Puech picked up a singles win with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph after dropping a three-set heartbreaker earlier in the day.
 
Alejandro Uribe also earned a tight two-set win after winning a tiebreaker in the second set.
 
Luis Reis picked up a three-set win with a rousing comeback. He dropped the opening set 6-4 before bouncing back to take the last two sets to earn the win.

"This weekend was a much better showing overall for our guys and an improvement not only level-wise but also in the habits that we want to have and show as a team," said Longwood Director of Tennis Carlos Lora. "I am looking forward to seeing how we continue to progress as a team throughout the remainder of the fall."
