FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Longwood men's tennis opened up the fall season at the University of Mary Washington Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The Lancers played up and down the lineup, with a variety of players getting time under first year Head Coach Carlos Lora.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
Over the span of two days, the Lancers played a total of 34 matches of tennis between singles and doubles. On Sunday afternoon, singles matches were decided by eight-game sets instead of best two out of three.
 
Alejandro Hernandez, a freshman, won all three singles matches he played, and he added a pair of doubles wins as well.
 
Lorenzo Meschini, a freshman as well, won a pair of singles matches on Saturday as well. Petar Belosevic added two singles wins on Saturday also.
 
In addition, Timéo Puech, Alejandro Uribe and Seva Rusin all earned wins on Saturday.
 
Puech had a win on Sunday as well, along with Ryan Foster.
 
WHAT THEY SAID:
 
"This weekend of competition was a good test for our team to start off the year and see where we stand with regional competition," said Lora. "It also showed us a lot of good things that we need to continue to work on and improve as the year goes on as individuals and as a team. I am looking forward to seeing how we continue to compete in the following tournaments that we have coming up this fall.
