The First Pitch:
  • Longwood heads to Clinton, S.C. to take on the Presbyterian Blue Hose in the team's opening Big South conference series.
  • The Lancers will play on Saturday at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. and will round out the weekend with a 12 p.m. contest on Sunday.
  • Longwood was picked to finish fourth in the Big South Preseason Poll while Presbyterian was picked to finish second.
  • In Longwood's Division-I era, the Lancers hold a 26-10 record against Presbyterian and have won each of the last two games.
  • Last season, the Lancers went 3-1 against the Blue Hose, including a 3-1 win in the Big South Tournament.
Last Time Out:
  • Longwood concluded play at the John Cropp Classic this past weekend in Lexington, Kentucky.
  • The Lancers went 1-1 across their two games in Lexington, falling to Michigan 2-1 while defeating DePaul 6-4.
  • Longwood holds a winning record through their first five weekends of play despite facing one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country.
  • Senior Korynna Anderson posted impressive numbers in Lexington, batting .500 with  two home runs and three RBIs across two games.
  • The Lancers won in dramatic fashion against DePaul, as Lindsey Hay hit a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk it off.
  • Longwood was scheduled to play four total games in Lexington, including one against #14 Kentucky and a rematch against DePaul. However, due to low temperatures, half of the weekend's slate of games were cut.

Quotables:

"This was a great finish to preseason and an exciting launch point for conference. We will always have room to grow, but very pleased with where we are as we get ready for Big South play." -Head Coach Dr. Megan Brown following Longwood's walk-off victory over DePaul last weekend.
