BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Longwood men's and women's tennis traveled south for a Big South matchup against the Campbell Camels. The Lancers fell in both contests by scores of 7-0 and 6-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Both duals began with doubles play, and the men's and women's matches played out very similarly. Campbell took the doubles point in both duals due to winning at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots while both matches at No. 2 were left unfinished.
After
Emma Nurgazieva dropped her match at No. 1,
Maria Saez claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 over Campbell's Lena Karlovcan. Following Saez's victory, Campbell clinched the dual meet win with a victory over
Karina Rizvanova.
Sophia Marchetta claimed an opening set victory at No. 4, but ultimately fell 6-3, 2-6, 6-7 (5) in her contest. Campbell earned victories at No. 5 and No. 6, leading to their Big South win.
On the men's side,
Guillermo Cagigas opened singles play with a dramatic match against Campbell's Damien Nezar. Despite winning the first set by a tiebreaker, Cagigas dropped the final two sets to lose the opening point.
Timeo Puech battled to a seventh point in both sets at No. 2, but ultimately lost his point. Following a win at No. 3, Campbell clinched their dual meet win to move to 10-4 overall on the season.
WHAT THEY SAID:
"Tough match for the ladies today," said Longwood Director of Tennis Adam Jackson. "We had some opportunities but weren't able to capitalize. We are focused on North Carolina A&T now."
"The guys played with a lot of heart at the top of the lineup today," said Jackson. "We are fighting well in a lot of spots and will be tough if we can get healthy."
