FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood women's tennis hosted their second home match of the season, welcoming the Richmond Spiders to Farmville. Although there were many closely contested matches, Richmond would ultimately come away with a 6-1 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The women competed in all three doubles matches, including a win in the first doubles match of the day.
Emma Nurgazieva and
Karina Rizvanova took care of business, picking up a point with a 6-2 decision.

Wiktoria Czerny battled and won a few sets, but ultimately their matches at No. 2 and No. 3 fell short, losing the doubles point to Richmond.
Despite the loss, the Lancers showed a lot of fight in singles play. Two matches went to a third set, including a win at No. 2 for
Maria Saez and a hotly-contested loss at No. 4 for
Karina Rizvanova
WHAT THEY SAID:
"The girls played hard against a very strong Richmond team," said Longwood Director of Tennis Adam Jackson. "There were a lot of close matches and the doubles point was played to a tight finish. Proud of the girls for fighting, and we're looking forward to the weekend."
UP NEXT:
Both Longwood men's and women's tennis will head south this weekend for two matches. Both teams take on UNC Wilmington this Saturday and then head to Conway, S.C. for a date with Coastal Carolina on Sunday.
